How to Make Bread: Easy Homemade Recipe

Making homemade bread is a rewarding and straightforward process. Whether you're an experienced baker or trying for the first time, this simple guide will teach you how to create perfectly soft and flavorful bread.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) of active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups of warm water (around 110°F or 45°C)
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and the yeast mixture. Add olive oil and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let it rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
  5. Shape and second rise: Punch the dough down, shape it into a loaf or rolls, and place it in a greased baking pan. Let it rise again for 30-40 minutes.
  6. Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  7. Cool and serve: Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy with butter, jam, or your favorite spread.

Additional Tips

For softer bread, consider adding a tablespoon of milk powder to the flour mixture. To create a crustier loaf, place a pan of water in the oven for steam during baking.
