How to Make a Mojito

The mojito is a classic Cuban cocktail that's perfect for hot summer days or any time you're craving a fresh and light drink. With a mix of mint, lime, sugar, rum, and soda water, this refreshing beverage is easy to make at home. Here's a simple recipe to guide you through the process.

Ingredients

  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
  • 2 tablespoons of white sugar (or adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup of ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 ounces of white rum
  • 1/2 cup of soda water

Instructions

  1. Place the mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice.
  2. Add two more lime wedges and the sugar. Muddle again until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Fill the glass nearly to the top with ice cubes.
  4. Pour the white rum over the ice.
  5. Top off the glass with soda water and gently stir to combine.
  6. Garnish with a lime wedge and an extra sprig of mint. Serve immediately.

Tips for the Perfect Mojito

To enhance the flavor, use fresh mint and ripe limes. Adjust the sugar and rum to suit your taste preferences. For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the rum and add more soda water.
