How to Grow Magic Mushrooms

Growing magic mushrooms, also known as psilocybin mushrooms, can be an exciting and rewarding experience. To begin, you will need to gather essential supplies, including spores, a suitable growing medium, and a sterile environment.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

To successfully grow magic mushrooms, you will need:

  • Mushroom spores (available online)
  • Growing substrate (such as brown rice flour and vermiculite)
  • Jars for incubation
  • Pressure cooker for sterilization
  • Humidity chamber for fruiting

Step 2: Prepare the Substrate

Mix the brown rice flour with vermiculite and water to create the growing medium. Fill your jars with this mixture, leaving some space at the top.

Step 3: Sterilize

Using a pressure cooker, sterilize the jars for about 60 minutes. This step is crucial to eliminate any contaminants that could hinder growth.

Step 4: Inoculation

Once cooled, inoculate the substrate with mushroom spores using a sterile syringe. Seal the jars with breathable lids.

Step 5: Incubation

Store the jars in a warm, dark place for 2-4 weeks. During this time, mycelium will begin to grow.

Step 6: Fruiting

After colonization, transfer the substrate to a humidity chamber to initiate fruiting. Maintain high humidity and indirect light.

Step 7: Harvesting

When the caps of the mushrooms start to open, it’s time to harvest. Use a sterile knife to cut them at the base.
