How to Calculate Circumference

The circumference of a circle is the distance around it. To calculate the circumference, you can use one of the following formulas:

Using the Diameter

If you know the diameter (d) of the circle, the formula is:

C = π × d

Using the Radius

radius (r) of the circle, you can use this formula:

C = 2 × π × r

Understanding π (Pi)

In both formulas, π (Pi) is a constant approximately equal to 3.14159. It represents the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.

Example Calculation

For example, if a circle has a radius of 5 units, the circumference can be calculated as:

C = 2 × π × 5 = 10π ≈ 31.42 units
